Living a healthy and happy lifestyle isn’t always the easiest thing to achieve. Between work, family, friends, and any other responsibilities you may hold over your head, it’s hard to make sure that you are giving yourself enough time to focus on yourself and your well being. We know that life gets hectic sometimes, but these little habits to include in your daily routine will contribute to you living a happier and healthier life, one little step at a time.
Drink Water Throughout The Day
Between all of the errands you have to run or the hectic work and home schedule you have to balance, many people forget to hydrate. You must not forget that water is an essential part of your health that contributes to a better body, skin, mood, and overall, better health! It is recommended to drink eight to ten glasses of water each day. Try keeping a filled water bottle with you at all times to remind yourself to keep on hydrating.
Take The Stairs
It’s very common for us to take the elevator whenever there is access to one, such as at work or at the mall. We get it that it takes less time and may be more convenient, but your future self will thank you if you add taking the stairs to your daily routine. This little task will increase your daily amount of steps and improve your cardiovascular system by doing that little of a task. And trust us, you’ll begin to see results soon such as in your endurance and in your booty!
Get Some Sleep
It’s inevitable that many people don’t get enough sleep throughout the week. Whether it’s work projects that are keeping them up or simply catching the latest episode of their favorite TV show late at night, so many people are sleep deprived for various reasons. This is something that everyone needs to take more seriously. Getting enough sleep is an important part of your life in order to keep your mind and body healthy. Aside from those horrid bags under your eyes that you get from lack of sleep, sleep deficiency is also linked to diabetes, stroke, heart disease, and high blood pressure. There are so many more benefits to catching Z’s than there are with calling an all-nighter. It is recommended to get around eight hours of sleep a night, so get to bed at a reasonable time!
Daily exercise should be a vital part in your daily routine, no matter how tired you are or how hectic your schedule may be. We know plenty of excuses can get in the way such as those two, but the truth is that exercise counteracts being tired and getting in the way of your schedule. Working out actually gives you more energy and helps you be more productive throughout the day, helping you mark off all of the tasks you need to complete on your to-do list. Not to mention the various benefits to your physical health that exercise contributes to…weight loss, strengthens muscles, and reduces blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes (just to name a few). We encourage you to set aside at least twenty minutes a day to complete some form of physical exercise, whether it’s taking a walk around the block or hitting the gym.
One of the biggest contributions to a happy life is enjoying the company of friends or family (and we’re not talking about staying connected via Facebook or Instagram). Set time aside every week or so to hangout with your friends or family, because your mental health is important too. Being locked up in your office or home leads to a sedentary life of depression, which can surprisingly be a contribution to premature death. Go out for a walk with a friend, or grab dinner with your gals. Don’t forget that laughter isn’t just great for your mental health, but your abs too!
